KIS Coaching Welcomes Emily Cocks & Brittany Vocke to the Team
July 19, 2017
KIS Coaching is happy to welcome two fantastic triathlon coaches to our coaching team.
Please meet Emily Cocks, former Michigan Wolverine, former Professional Triathlete and two-time Olympic Trials Qualifier in the sport of swimming. As a Professional Triathlete Emily raced to numerous podium finishes around the world, all the while developing her coaching skills. Emily brings over 10 years of triathlon coaching experience to the table, as well as over 2 decades of swim training, where she oversaw various swim programs. Emily runs several swim sessions on deck in Napa, California, where she resides with her husband Andy.
Emily is excited to join the team and shared these thoughts about KIS and coaching “As a coach and athlete, my approach has always been one emphasizing consistency, hard work and patience. “Keep it simple” was often something I said to my athletes; I wanted to them to have faith that if they put in the work, they will see the results. Endurance builds over weeks, months and years—I saw it in my own career. The key is to love the training, have fun and race hard. It really is simple! I am excited to work with all the KIS coaches and learn from them and their athletes as we try to “keep it simple” and have fun at all types of endurance events (running, road triathlon, Xterra triathlon, cycling, swimming—you name it!).”
We look forward to seeing Emily continue to grow her on deck coaching, as well as her online coaching presence over the months and years to come.
We would also like to welcome Brittany Vocke to the coaching team. A collegiate swimmer at George Mason University where she earned her degree in Exercise Science. Brittany took up triathlon soon after concluding her collegiate swimming career. Triathlon was a natural fit and the results came rather quickly when she jumped straight into the deep end, tackling the iron distance in her first year. Brittany has been personally coached by our very own Coach Scott since 2014. Since then she has completed 3 more iron distance events, as well as winning the overall title in several other events around the country.
Brittany relocated to Southern California in 2015 from Northern Virginia where she was coaching at Machine Aquatics. She guided many young swimmers to National and Junior Olympic Championships, all the while honing her skills as a swim technician. Brittany is currently working for a swim club out of San Clemente and will continue to be mentored by Coach Scott, while they work together to develop a one on one program for age group adults in the San Diego area. Brittany also has a strong desire to develop a Junior Triathlon Program and KIS Coaching looks forward to helping her launch such programs in the near future! We are excited to have Brittany join our Team of Coaches!
If you are interested in being coached by Emily or Brittany you can find more information about them HERE.
